SUNDAY NIGHT MUSIC: THE SHIRELLES "BABY, IT'S YOU"

 

From 1961 written by Bacharach/David and Luther Dixon. A fine example of that period's girl groups. The Beatles liked it well enough to include it not only as part of their stage act '61-'63, but also on their first album Please Please Me in 1963. Produced by Dixon, it has a whiff of Phil Spector although the sound is a bit primitive especially the keyboard bridge. Still, in my book, a classic.
