Evidently, us and Chuck have reached some sort of detente after the tense standoff a couple of weeks ago concerning Chuck's insistence to feast on the snow-on-the-mountain. He won the skirmish by taking a single feeding path through the eight foot bed. Since then, he's left it alone. He was out back yesterday early evening enjoying the tall grass.
Chuck 'n Fluff grazed peacefully together for a good half hour. Good eatin'!

Meanwhile, Mr. Red Bird was hanging out and snacking on some fallen seeds from the feeder. While other males stop by, this guy seems to be the dominant cardinal in our yard. He does a lot of ground feeding and has a couple of characteristic traits: he sports a slicked back crest (consistent with his age?) and has a habit of cocking his head.
He uses Vitalis!
