The winner of the 2023 Katmai National Park & Preserve's Fat Bear contest has been announced. Crowned queen is 128 Grazer! Well done!
About our winner: "128 Grazer is a defensive mama bear who has successfully raised two litters of cubs and who “often preemptively confronts and attacks much larger bears — even large and dominant adult males,” according to the National Park Service. She is a brown bear.
These coastal bears feed on many salmon daily, weighing 5-7 pounds, each of which contains around 4000 calories. We wish 128 Grazer well and a successful hibernation.
