VISITOR FROM THE NORTH

Gary Soper
Yesterday I was moving leaves in the Back 40 when movement in the honeysuckle branches caught my eye. The little bird was nervous, constantly flitting around but it did so in the same area long enough for me to spot its most prominent feature: a red forehead patch. Research confirms identity: a Common Redpoll. They breed in the Arctic and migrate South for the Winter. If you are staying, Welcome! If not, safe journey!
