INTERSTELLER: SOUNDS OF EARTH

Bach: The Well-Tempered Clavier, Prelude and Fugue in C No. 1
Glenn Gould piano

In 1977, we sent out 2 spacecraft Voyager 1 and 2 into space. Included on both were 2 gold records containing drawings of our species, images of life on Earth, and sounds of us, the planet and music. The piece above was one of the selections.

Carl Sagan who worked on the project noted that this was "...launching a bottle into the cosmic ocean..."

Today, Voyager 1 is roughly 14.5 billion miles away in the constellation of Ophiucus. Voyager 2 is roughly 12.1 billion miles away in the constellation of Pavo.
