A INTER-SPECIES LOVE STORY

 

              
Walnut, a white-naped crane who resided at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, DC has died at age 42. Her story is both curious and sweet for she bonded with one of her human zookeepers, Chris Crowe and regarded him as a proxy mate for nearly 20 years.

Walnut, who is rumored to have killed two avian suitors who tried to mate with her in the past, had fallen in love with her Smithsonian zookeeper. Imagine this storyline in the human version of the show. Yikes!
