9/12-13-closed down the pool. Weird, weird Summer this year: chilly May-early June, then some nice stretches of pool days and then suddenly, Fall began before Labor Day. Warm enough this weekend to work comfortably.

Damn deer: they pruned Martha's marigolds!! WTF!! Again, I return to my earlier idea of teenager deerskis who are responsible-hmm, let's try this. Hopefully, the result was-yuck! bitter! and they will leave the marigolds alone.
Drought: only a bit of rain has fallen here since the middle of August.
Tomatoes: a couple of the big ones ripened but alas, had end rot. The cherries are still producing although I think the young Chipper has been imbibing.

Worker Hell: I was visiting a fast-food drive-thru at 11.15 am the other day. I was informed that their grill was down and only food from the fryer would be available. An awful situation for the order-taker, gawd.

Charlie Kirk, popular conservative activist, co-founder of Turning Point USA in 2012, which targeted High Schools and University campuses, was assassinated in Orem, UT on 9/10 while giving an address at a college there. The attack was weirdly reminiscent of the attempted assassination of the Roach in Butler, PA.
Immediately, the Roach began blaming the radical left for the killing...until the suspect turned out to be a white kid from St. George, UT, who grew up in a conservative, Mormon, Republican, gun-toting family. His Dad turned him in.
Evidently, the Roach was quite fond of Kirk. I was thinking the other night that perhaps down the road, Kirk might have gotten into Congress and eventually the presidency. The correct boxes would have been checked: tall, good-looking with a good-looking wife and kids; evangelical Christian, espoused racist and anti-LGBTQ ideologies-a wet dream for the 2025 and MAGA crowd.
I have thought for some time about the state of the world-that there is some virus infecting people/nations: nihlistic, violent, racist. I beginning to see this idea being picked up by the op-ed folks and unfortunately, the prognosis is sad and scary. No quick fixes to be sure since so much of this is fueled by decades of anger and resentment. And, things have just started. Buckle-up.
Meanwhile, in response to the draconian laws put into place by a series of British governments that allow the arrest and prosecution of pro-Palestine protesters under anti-terrorism laws, Banksy painted this image on the side of the Royal Courts of Justice building in central London.
